Brachytherapy is an internal form of radiation therapy often used to treat gynecological, prostate and liver cancers; approximately 20% of radiation oncologists offer this treatment.
Care Philosophy
I treat every patient as a member of my family or a close friend. I deeply care about each of my patients. I provide as much treatment information as possible, give them my cell phone number, call them on the weekends to check on them and try to return all calls on the same day. My goal is to help alleviate as much of my patients’ stress as I can.
I conduct research in a variety of tumor areas. I’ve published research on brain, lung and breast cancer, but the majority of my research over the past decade revolves around hepatobiliary cancer, including cancers of the liver, bile duct and pancreas.
If I don’t have the answers, I’ll refer the patient to someone who does. I always think about what is best for the patient. Sometimes that’s not utilizing radiation for their treatment or perhaps they need a different type of radiation than what I can offer, so we’ll get them connected to the right care. My ultimate goal is to help as many patients as possible receive the care they deserve no matter what type of cancer they have.
